Lord,
# q) H. ], x7 K+ L1 {) Dhaving transformed5 L1 s5 R$ q6 q$ f
sunshine and soil and water and seed,0 s$ @( D; i, W9 S! k( Q! U) X
into food upon which we are soon to feed,
/ N. u- y# n7 K W6 m0 Rwe thank you for life and we want to stay well,
% V' Q& U+ x: o# @" O, q( T8 Aso we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
+ A7 d' a/ T" p% x; AWe who came first and are ready to dine6 g4 ^8 [5 u3 C9 X# l
thank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
% [) a% q# t# o7 y' g! ]1 zbut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait, / ~6 r6 [0 B: r3 H% e. M
we shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.0 X1 P: e1 | F. t6 q# r
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others
: P( [! m$ P; Y% kthe way we were taught by our own loving mothers.6 V+ q" R; ]9 R i
Now,
0 W, _, b6 C( l, [) Q1 S" mWe smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
" a( O" y# b/ `2 X7 I; Vthe aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
! P+ E- p, X1 uWe thank you for people so generous and kind
